Our Story: Built to Last, Engineered for Any Environment

Our journey began over 20 years ago, rooted in a passion for designing and building indestructible, weatherproof offices buildings and warehouses. It all started when Jerry Hartless (Co-Founder & Managing Partner) was a military contractor in the Middle East. There, shipping containers that once delivered supplies were transformed into Build-A-Box’s first offices, providing essential workspace solutions for warfighters and contractors stationed at remote camps in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Inspired by modular construction innovation, Build-A-Box Co-Founder & CEO Michael McDermott joined forces with Jerry Hartless to redefine modular office solutions. Since then, they have designed, delivered, and installed hundreds of custom office spaces and warehouses across the U.S. and its territories—bringing strength, efficiency, and reliability to industries that demand the best in durability and performance.
